As 2023 comes to a close, you should be well versed in the status of MIPS for your practice. If you haven’t met with your Verana Practice Experience Manager (PEM) recently, December is your final chance to connect and identify any last-minute tasks that need to be completed prior to the year’s end. Please reach out to your PEM to schedule a pre-attestation assessment if you have not already done so.
If your practice will be attesting to Promoting Interoperability, please reach out to customer service by calling 877-239-3367 to schedule a pre-attestation review with a trainer no later than February 15, 2024. Your practice will be required to have the most recent EMR update prior to the pre-attestation review. The Promoting Interoperability automatic reweighting for practices falling into the Special Status category, including small practices, is still in effect for 2023.
Important Deadlines
December 31, 2023 – Complete all patient encounters for 2023
January 2, 2024 – MIPS EUC Exception Application Period Closes
January 31, 2024 – Sign IRIS Registry DRCF Form
February 15, 2024 – Schedule a Pre-Attestation Review with Trainer
March 31, 2024 – Complete submission to CMS via IRIS Registry Dashboard
If you have any questions regarding the IRIS Registry or your Quality Dashboard, please reach out to your assigned Verana Practice Experience Manager at 877-837-2621.
EyeMD EMR Version 1.0 Is No Longer Supported The IRIS Registry no longer supports EyeMD EMR version 1.0. If you are still using EyeMD EMR version 1.0, you will need to create an attestation plan using an alternative method.
EUC Exception The Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances (EUC) exception is available in 2023 but must be applied for and approved by CMS. Please note that this exception is not automatically granted; CMS frequently denies applications.
Security Risk Analysis HIPAA requires that practices conduct a yearly Security Risk Analysis to identify areas where protected health information (PHI) could be at risk. Be sure to complete an SRA for 2023 prior to MIPS attestation. If you have any questions regarding the Security Risk Analysis, please work with your IT group and they will guide you on how to complete and maintain this on a yearly basis.
