CMS Response Regarding IRIS Registry 2019 Quality Reporting Requirements

On December 10, 2019, we sent an email to all practices with the subject line “Clarification and Follow Up to Recent E-mail from IRIS Registry”. This email informed your practice of conflicting interpretations on whether clinical data was required to be entered into a 2015 CEHRT when reporting clinical quality measures via eCQM.

We have received an official response from CMS confirming our interpretation that the program allows for eCQM measures to be sent from the IRIS Registry irrespective of whether or not the EHR is 2015 Certified. This means that it does not matter if you are on EyeMD EMR version 1.x or 2.0, you will be able to submit eCQM quality data for all available measures and be eligible to achieve maximum points for the Quality portion of the QPP program. The IRIS Registry may need to modify their system to allow for eCQM submissions from EyeMD EMR as eCQM submission does not require a 2015 Certification ID. We ask for your patience as the IRIS Registry may need some time to adjust to this clarification.

How to Achieve Maximum Points in 2019

We recommend that all EyeMD EMR customers attest for PI this year using the Hardship Exception, even if they upgraded to EyeMD EMR 2.0 prior to the October 1st deadline as this will likely result in the highest points earned. We also recommend that you submit all available eCQM, MIPS CQM, and QCDR measures as your highest performing measures will be automatically selected by CMS.

What If I Failed to Apply for a Hardship Exception?

The 12/31/2019 deadline for applying for a Hardship Exception has already passed. We sent your practice multiple notifications to apply for this Hardship Exception prior to this important deadline. If you failed to apply for a Hardship Exception, the only option left for your practice would be to apply for a Targeted Review after the 2019 MIPS Performance Feedback and Final Score is released by CMS. We expect this to be released by July of this year. We recommend that you notify Customer Service as soon as possible so that we can register your practice for Targeted Review Assistance.

As always, if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

Worldwide Cloud Outage Impact

A software update from the cybersecurity company CrowdStrike has inadvertently disrupted IT systems globally. Although most of our systems were unaffected, our primary remote support tool (LogMeIn Rescue) is currently offline. Consequently, our remote support capabilities have been impacted. Our support team is unable to access customer systems using this tool. However, we can connect to remote systems using an alternative, customer-initiated tool. As a result, we are unable to perform certain remote tasks, which may lead to support delays and cancellations. Additionally, our credit card processing partner, Nexio, is currently unable to process credit card transactions, and certain eligibility checks are failing. We thank
