We have recently received notice that Direct Trust plans to direct Surescripts to revoke the DIRECT messaging domain certificates for 24 EHR vendors who are using the Surescripts DIRECT messaging product on 06/29/2018 at 11:59 PM on the basis that Surescripts allowed organizational domain names that are not directly assigned to individual practices. We were previously advised that using organizational domain names not directly assigned to individual practices was permitted. This may result in undelivered DIRECT messages to/from other providers outside of the Surescripts DIRECT message network. Surescripts advised us that messages to other EyeMD EMR providers (with the domain @direct.eyemdemr.com) or to providers who are part of the Surescripts DIRECT network will not be affected. This also will not affect any E-Rx services.
All interested parties are currently in communication with DirectTrust in an effort to extend what we feel is an unreasonable compliance deadline of 6/29/2018 11:59 PM they have set for compliance. We have notified the Office of the National Coordinator of this action, and will keep you posted on our progress as information becomes available to us. Once we receive final confirmation of any action that may be required in order to reach compliance (if any), we will communicate this to you.
In the meantime, we suggest that you update to the latest version of EyeMD EMR this weekend in order to expedite any compliance remediation actions that may be required. Instructions on how to update EyeMD EMR yourself are attached.
In order to ensure that all of our resources remain available to practices that need them, we ask that you please withhold any questions you might have regarding this issue until after our next communication with your practice as we do not have any additional details we can share at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may cause your practice.
